Artist Statement

One might say I was born a musician. There was never a silent day in my household, music being the invisible string that pulls my family together. The way others may punch walls or break dishes, I write a song. To me, music is a physical representation of the scope of human emotion, and I want to be able to make others feel.  

That moment in a song where the words come to life, when they stop being words and start telling a story, is the drug I’m chasing as an artist, and as a person. Recording and touring serve as the vehicle for my true goal, to help others. I think we’ve all had a time where we listened to a song that described exactly what we were feeling, or a song that opened our eyes to our situation, a song that kept us going. That’s what I want to do for others. 

And if I can’t give them a song, I can give my hand. One of the reasons I’m so determined to succeed is what it can do for the people around me. There are those who go their whole lives without needing anything, and yet there are people in my country who carry water to their houses in buckets. If I can do something to bridge that gap, I will do it. 

I may not know exactly who I am yet, still growing and changing as we all are, but I know that music is what I’m meant to do. And maybe that’s all I need to know.
