WHO IS VENUS?

VENUS, born Maya Parker, is a Bahamian Singer-Songwriter whose main goal is to allow listeners to find themselves in their music. Their occupational goal is to become a recording artist and tour around the world, but their main aspiration is to help others with the work they do. Music has gotten them through their life, happy and sad, and they want to be able to make others feel. They chose the name ‘VENUS’ as it represents love, which is their main philosophy.

VENUS is a child to two jazz musicians, so they grew up around music. They wrote their first song at the age of 6 and have been writing since. They sang in many musical productions in high school and ultimately auditioned for, and were accepted to, Berklee College of Music in 2022. They have also performed on a local television show Bahamas at Sunrise numerous times, and have performed at the Lilypad and the Loft at 939 since being a student at Berklee.

As an artist, they plan to use their platform for the good of their environment, a pressing issue in their home country as well as around the world. Additionally, VENUS is a lesbian, making music for other queer and sapphic people, as well as being a Christian, making them unusual in the industry. People will want to follow them because they show that you can be true to yourself in all aspects, therefore they will garner both queer and Christian fans, as well as fans of Pop/Alt Rock. Their philanthropy will also draw in support, tastes aside, they can support the causes VENUS invests in. VENUS is an artist who aims to connect with their listeners above all else. They are dedicated to producing 100% authentic music from pen to ear.

WHY VENuS?

they chose the name Venus because it represents love which is their core principle, and their place among the stars (plus it sounds cool).

Venus is the roman goddess of love and beauty as well as the second closest planet to the sun.

their middle name, ivy, comes from the name of their guitar that was gifted to them by their father. to be completely transparent, they wanted the initials V.I.P.
